Curoria connects researchers who need participants with people who want to contribute to surveys and studies. These standards explain what a participant-facing listing must communicate before it can appear in the Curoria marketplace.

Every Curoria listing should give a potential participant enough information to understand the opportunity before they choose whether to continue to the researcher's survey or study.

Minors
Age and participant protection
Research involving minors can require additional consent, permission, safeguarding, and institutional processes. Researchers must accurately state participant ages and follow every requirement that applies to their specific study.
Researchers can set a study's minimum participant age as low as 13. Curoria only opens a study's external link to a participant once their age is verified — adults 18+ can continue immediately, and participants age 13–17 must complete a guardian consent step for that specific study first.
What researchers recruiting minors are responsible for

People deciding whether to participate should be able to understand who is responsible for a Curoria listing and how any school, supervisor, laboratory, or organization is actually connected to the study.
Use accurate identitiesResearchers should provide a real name or an accurately described research team identity together with current contact information.
Describe affiliations honestlyA school email, student club, faculty mentor, research lab, and formal institutional sponsorship are different relationships and should never be presented as interchangeable.

AI Use
Responsible AI use in Curoria-listed research
Researchers may use appropriate AI and automated tools when planning or communicating their work, but they remain responsible for accuracy, participant privacy, research integrity, and every claim shown in a Curoria listing.
Never fabricate research activityAI must not be used to invent participants, responses, observations, results, approvals, affiliations, or researcher identities and present them as real.
Verify participant-facing informationResearchers should review AI-assisted study descriptions, eligibility language, consent explanations, code, analysis, and summaries before using them.
Protect participant informationConfidential or identifying participant information should not be entered into AI tools that are not approved for handling that data.
Follow the study's own rulesResearchers remain responsible for any institutional, course, sponsor, ethics-review, or platform requirements governing AI use in their study.
Enforcement
Curoria review and enforcement
Curoria may act when a listing is incomplete, misleading, unsafe, inaccurate, or inconsistent with platform standards. The goal is to protect the clarity and trustworthiness of the participant marketplace.
Possible review outcomes

Request changesCuroria may ask the researcher to clarify eligibility, procedures, privacy, oversight, or other material information before the listing goes live.
Pause or removeA live listing may be paused or removed when important information changes, a link becomes unsafe or misleading, or a serious standards concern is identified.
DeclineCuroria may decline listings that do not fit the platform, cannot be presented transparently, or create safety concerns the platform cannot responsibly support.
Curoria approval means only that a public listing passed Curoria's platform screening. It does not guarantee the scientific quality of a study and does not provide institutional ethics or IRB approval.

4. Contributions are tracked
Signed-in members can keep a history of the research opportunities they join, while researchers can keep track of their Curoria submissions.
5. Organizations support the loop
Schools, community groups, mentors, and partner organizations can help researchers and volunteers access responsible opportunities without changing Curoria's central purpose: connecting research with people.
Transparency & Trust
Curoria works best when participants can understand a study before they click into it and when researchers can describe their work without overstating approval or affiliation.
What “Curoria reviewed” means
It means Curoria checked the public listing against platform standards. It does not automatically mean a university, IRB, ethics committee, government agency, or other institution approved the study.
Researcher information
Names, institutional affiliations, school emails, supervisor involvement, and formal ethics-review status should be shown separately and only when Curoria has a reasonable basis to display them.
Participant information
Study cards and detail pages should make eligibility, expected time, study activities, researcher contact, privacy information, and any compensation easy to find.
External study links
Many studies may take place on an external survey or research platform. Curoria helps people discover the opportunity, but the researcher's study environment may have its own privacy terms and data practices.
Honest platform numbers
Curoria should display only real counts for studies, researchers, and participation activity. When a number is unknown or unavailable, it should not be replaced with an invented statistic.

The main Curoria submission pathway is for researchers who need participants. A strong listing helps volunteers understand the opportunity before deciding whether to participate.
Tell people what the study is about
Use a clear title and plain-language description of the research question or purpose.
Explain what participation involves
State the activities, estimated time, eligibility requirements, number of participants needed, and any compensation.
Identify the researcher
Provide an accurate researcher name, contact email, relevant institution or supervision information, and the most accurate description of any ethics or institutional review.
Explain privacy and consent
Describe what information is collected, whether participants can stop, how consent is handled, and where the study itself is hosted.
After submission
Curoria may approve the public listing, request changes, ask for clarification, or decline to publish it. Curoria platform review must never be presented as formal ethics or IRB approval.
Curoria Study Listing Review
Curoria's core review process is designed for public study listings in the participant marketplace. It focuses on whether a listing is clear, transparent, and appropriate to publish on the platform.
1. Submission check
Curoria checks that required study, researcher, participant, contact, privacy, and oversight information is present.
2. Clarity review
The listing should explain the opportunity in language a potential participant can understand before leaving Curoria.
3. Trust and safety review
Curoria may flag unclear consent language, misleading approval claims, missing researcher information, unsuitable participant targeting, or other concerns that should be resolved before the listing goes live.
4. Decision
A listing may be approved, returned for changes, paused for clarification, or declined. Curoria listing review is a platform screening process and is not a substitute for formal institutional or ethics review.
5. Ongoing corrections
Researchers should update listings when recruitment closes or important study details change. Curoria may correct, pause, or remove listings when needed.

Information Curoria may collect
Curoria may collect account information, research submission details, study-joining activity connected to a user's dashboard, and information users provide through contact or application forms.
How Curoria uses information
Information may be used to operate accounts, review and display research listings, help users track their Curoria activity, communicate with researchers and participants, prevent abuse, and improve the platform.
Research conducted outside Curoria
When a participant follows a study link to an external survey or research system, that external service and the researcher may collect information under their own privacy practices. Curoria does not automatically control data collected inside those external systems.
Service providers
This site may use services such as Supabase for authentication and Netlify for hosting or form processing. Their privacy practices also apply to information they process.
Participant age and safeguarding
Curoria accounts are available to members age 13 and older. External study participation is open to age-verified adults immediately, and to members age 13–17 for studies whose researcher sets a minimum age of 17 or younger, after a parent or guardian completes consent for that specific study. See Curoria's guardian consent and safeguarding process for details on account-level consent and safeguarding concern reports. Researchers remain responsible for consent and safeguarding requirements that apply to their own studies.
Corrections and deletion
Users may contact Curoria about corrections or deletion requests, subject to applicable legal, safety, and recordkeeping obligations.

Participant choice
Participation in research is voluntary. Users should review the study information and the researcher's own consent materials before taking part.
External study services
Curoria may link to third-party surveys, repositories, or research tools that Curoria does not control.

Research results, educational challenges, and local Curoria communities are optional extensions of the central researcher-participant network.

Minor consent and safeguarding process
Curoria accounts are open to members age 13 and older. This page explains how guardian consent, participation limits, and safeguarding reports work for younger members, researchers, and the wider Curoria community.
Accounts: age 13+Anyone 13 or older may create a Curoria account after completing age verification. Curoria stores an age band and verification status only, not the birth date itself.
External participation: 13+ with consentCuroria opens a study's external link to age-verified adults immediately. Members age 13–17 can also continue, but only to studies where the researcher has set a minimum age of 17 or younger, and only after a parent or guardian completes consent for that specific study.
Two separate consent stepsGuardian consent for a Curoria account (below) is separate from the guardian consent collected automatically before a participant age 13–17 continues to a specific study.
Safeguarding reportsAnyone — a participant, guardian, researcher, or bystander — can report a safeguarding concern about a listing, researcher, or interaction using the report form below.

Complete this form if you are the parent or legal guardian of a Curoria member age 13–17. Curoria reviews each submission and follows up by email before recording consent on the account. Submitting this form does not enable participation in external studies, which remains limited to age-verified adults.
Report a concern
Safeguarding concern report
Use this form to report a safety, consent, privacy, or conduct concern connected to a Curoria listing, researcher, or participant interaction. Reports are reviewed by the Curoria team and are handled separately from general contact messages.
If someone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services first. This form is reviewed by the Curoria team but is not a substitute for an emergency response.
Guardian consent and safeguarding reports are handled by the Curoria team at curoriafoundation@gmail.com. Researchers remain responsible for any consent, assent, or safeguarding requirements that apply to their own studies — see Research Standards for details.
